Changements structurels, agriculture, environnement et sécurité alimentaire

Ce thème de recherche inclut à la fois les changements structurels dans l’agriculture et leurs liens avec les secteurs en amont et en aval et l’environnement, ainsi que la conception et les impacts des politiques publiques visant à améliorer la productivité agricole et la sécurité alimentaire.

Nous analysons les changements à long terme dans l’utilisation des terres, la déforestation, les infrastructures, la dynamique des populations, la productivité agricole et les relations entre ces éléments, ainsi que leur réaction au changement climatique et aux modifications des termes de l’échange. À cette fin, nous utilisons une combinaison de données de télédétection, de données sur les ménages, les entreprises et les recensements, et nous nous appuyons sur diverses méthodes et approches empiriques.

L’analyse des politiques publiques se concentre, d’une part, sur l’analyse de l’impact des politiques commerciales sur le bien-être des petits exploitants et la sécurité alimentaire, notamment en se concentrant sur les changements dans la chaîne de valeur agricole. D’autre part, nos chercheurs utilisent des expériences randomisées et la collecte de données originales sur les ménages pour conduire l’évaluation d’interventions portant sur les droits fonciers, les régimes de subventions agricoles ou  différentes approches de  vulgarisation, quant à leurs effets sur l’apprentissage et l’adoption de nouvelles technologies, la productivité agricole et le bien-être des ménages.
